Milburn Gin and Machine Co. 1890

A recent find from old family papers given to me by Buzzy Barnett who along with his wife looked after the daughter of G Peters Lee, Rowena (Ena) Lee until her passing. Milburn Gin and Machine Co. is listed in the Dow 1890 Memphis City Directory. Thank you Buzzy. I look forward to adding more Lee Line history from this massive collection of family papers.

I am so glad they are in the hands of someone who will keep these treasured memories alive. Thanks Jim for continuing to update this amazing history of the Lee Line and it’s history.

    Hello Jim and Buzzy,
The owner of this factory, John D. Milburn, was my great grandfather. I visited Memphis three years ago and tried to find traces of the factory buildings but the location seems to be a freeway interchange at this point. I did visit the grave plot of the Milburn family at the Elmwood Cemetery. My great grandfather’s brother, T.H., who is listed on the company letterhead as Treasurer, is buried there though his grave is unmarked. My father and uncle had a gravestone placed there for my great great grandmother, Martha Milburn, who was John D. and T.H.’s mother.
