{"id":718,"date":"2011-10-25T19:40:45","date_gmt":"2011-10-25T19:40:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/leelinesteamers.com\/?p=718"},"modified":"2011-11-03T18:54:32","modified_gmt":"2011-11-03T18:54:32","slug":"old-spoons","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leelinesteamers.com\/?p=718","title":{"rendered":"Old Spoons"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-713\" title=\"LEE LINE spoons\" src=\"http:\/\/leelinesteamers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/LEE-LINE-spoons.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"604\" srcset=\"https:\/\/leelinesteamers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/LEE-LINE-spoons.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/leelinesteamers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/LEE-LINE-spoons-300x176.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>These spoons were dug up by my friend Ed Provine who along with a gang of diggers dug large numbers of old privets, cisterns, and wells in the downtown area of Memphis when urban renewal removed hundreds of old homes during the 1970\u2032s.\u00a0 The Lee Line spoon was found in a trash pit somewhere south of Beale Street.\u00a0 Ed and a friend dug this spoon along with an old jug.\u00a0 After a lenghty discussion on how to divide their findings, Ed left with the spoon which was badly bent and had no plating.\u00a0\u00a0 Even with new plating, it is evident that the spoon was quite corroded.\u00a0\u00a0 Ed has a much nicer Lee Line spoon in his personal collection.\u00a0 Likely, there are not many Lee Line utensils in existense since the Lee Line wharfboat burning in 1924.\u00a0 Additionally, these utensils were inexpensive copper plated utility items.\u00a0\u00a0 Ed sold me the Lee Line spoon and gave me the Majestic Hotel spoon.\u00a0 My great uncle G.
