LEE 1907\/8 family pictures"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>These pictures are from a family album dating from 1907 1908 and were sent to me by Susan Lea whose family members are pictured.\u00a0 They are the Schott and Ruppel families.\u00a0 The man in the lower two pictures is thought to be the Captain of the STACKER LEE.\u00a0 Thank you Susan for sharing these old family pictures.\u00a0 I am always looking for old pictures such as these.<\/p>\n<p>The STACKER LEE was nicknamed Stack-O-Dollars by her crew.\u00a0 She was build following the demise of the St. Louis New Orleans Anchor Line a St. Louis\u00a0major competitor.\u00a0 Prior the end of the Anchor Line, the Lee Line went no further than Cairo Il.\u00a0 Following the end of the Anchor Line, the Lee Line built 3 large packets, the STACKER LEE, JAMES LEE and the PETERS LEE.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0JAMES\u00a0LEE ran\u00a0to and above St. Louis.\u00a0\u00a0The STACKER LEE likewise ran the St. Louis trade while the PETERS LEE ran up the Ohio River to Cincinnati\u00a0Ohio.\u00a0 However these boats\u00a0ran various routes as needed and competition allowed.\u00a0 The Lee Line built several smaller packets in the late 1890&#8217;s in\u00a0addition to the above boats.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/leelinesteamers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Stacker-Lee-ladies-under-sign-1907.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"
