{"id":687,"date":"2011-10-21T18:46:27","date_gmt":"2011-10-21T18:46:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/leelinesteamers.com\/?page_id=687"},"modified":"2015-05-12T17:48:15","modified_gmt":"2015-05-12T17:48:15","slug":"james-lee-sr-and-penniah-gibson-decedants","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/leelinesteamers.com\/?page_id=687","title":{"rendered":"James Lee Sr and Penniah Gibson decendants"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>James Lee Sr. born in 1808 died in 1889 married Penniah Gibson in 1830 together they had 3 sons two who lived into adulthood.\u00a0 James Lee Jr born in 1832 and Samuel \u00a0Stacker Lee in born 1844 or 1845.\u00a0\u00a0 Stacker married and had one\u00a0son Samuel Stacker Jr.\u00a0 James Lee Jr married Rowena Bayliss in 1858,\u00a0 together they had 14 children with 10 surviving:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\u00a0Rosa Lee born in\u00a01859 and died in 1936.\u00a0 Rosa never married.\u00a0 She founded the James Lee Memorial Art Academy which became the Memphis Art Academy.<\/li>\n<li>Sarah Lee (also known as Sally) born in 1861 and died in 1948.\u00a0 In 1884 she married Sam Phillips (a steamboat Capt.) \u00a0and together they had one daughter Lady Lee Phillips.\u00a0 Their marriage ended in divorce.\u00a0 Lady Lee Phillips married Walter Edge who became governor of New Jersey and served as ambassador to France.\u00a0 They married in 1905 and had one child Walter Edge Jr.\u00a0 Lady Lee died 4 days after giving birth to Walter Edge Jr.<\/li>\n<li>Robert E. Lee born in 1863 and died in 1942.\u00a0 He married Elizabeth Morrow in 1908 and together had one son Robert E. Lee Jr.\u00a0 Robert E. Lee Jr married Mary Johnson in 1930.\u00a0 She had one son from a previous marriage \u2013 R. Wilkerson.\u00a0 Robert divorced and remarried and had one son Robert E Lee III.\u00a0 Robert E Lee Sr. was head of the Lee Line from 1895 until 1913.<\/li>\n<li>Rowena Lee born in 1882 and died March 1968.\u00a0 Rowena married Walter Teagle in 1907.\u00a0 Together they had one son Walter Teagle Jr in 1913.\u00a0 Walter Teagle Sr. became head of Standard Oil of New Jersey (now Exxon Corp.) in his mid 30\u2019s.<\/li>\n<li>James Lee III born in 1867 and died in 1919.\u00a0 James Lee III later in life called himself James Lee Jr.\u00a0 He married Bodien Warriner daughter of his father\u2019s law partner.\u00a0 Together they had one daughter Sadie Ardinger Lee in 1893, she never married.\u00a0 James Lee III worked for the Lee Line or affiliated businesses for several years and then went into a number of business ventures apart from the family.<\/li>\n<li>Bayliss G. Lee born in 1870 and died in 1926.\u00a0 He married Minnie Wright in 1917 who had one son Eldridge Wright.\u00a0 Bayliss and Minnie had a double wedding with Shelby R. Lee and Ruth Cochran Moon.\u00a0 \u00a0Bayliss and Minnie\u2019s marriage ended in divorce.\u00a0 Bayliss worked for Lee Bros and then took over the Bohlen Huse Coal and Ice business.<\/li>\n<li>G. Peters Lee born in 1872 and died in Jan 5, 1933.\u00a0 He married Edna Hill in 1910.\u00a0 Edna had 2 children by previous marriage, Kenneth Hill and Allien Hill.\u00a0\u00a0 Together they had one daughter Rowena who never married.\u00a0 Peters worked for the Lee Line and tried to continue in the steamboat excursion business following the Lee Line voluntary liquidation in 1926.<\/li>\n<li>Georgia Lee.\u00a0 Born in 1874 and died in April 29 1958.\u00a0 She married Robert Parker in 1899.\u00a0 Their marriage ended in divorce.<\/li>\n<li>Ora Belle Lee.\u00a0 Born in 1876 and died July 31 1927.\u00a0 She never married<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>10.\u00a0 Shelby R.
